Living as a book worm.

Asaalam all,
After having watched a recent video by Amenakin, I felt it was almost compulsory to write a post on the books I have been reading recently, due to the fact that I, to, enjoy reading. Finding your mind and thoughts entrapped within a book is a unique feeling, and searching for that feeling through a passion of reading, by looking for books that suit ones personality and opinions, is an adventure within itself.
I am not actually going to write on three books I have read recently (as requested in the video) simply because I cannot remember (I have my excuses- maybe...) however, one book has simply fascinated me and even though I have not yet completed it, I do wish to share it, as from my personal views, I believe it would be able to increase ones Imaan.

"When Life Begins" By Abu Yahya, is the story of a Muslim man, who holds the name Abdullah, being brought back to life after his time in the grave, and due to the fact that he lived a good, righteous life Masha-Allah, he is to be given reward, he shares with us his experience of the day along-side his companion Saleh.

This book is one of motivation through truth. It inspires one to get up and allow the angel who records their good deeds to be constantly writing (a segment from the book). Not only does it show the consequence, but also the rewards, and I look forward to reading the rest Insha-Allah.

I am also interested in reading more about Abdullah Quilliam, and at current, the only book I know of is "The Life And Times Of Abdullah Quilliam", which I discovered through the video.

Recently, I downloaded an app entitled "Islamic eBooks" and I eagerly await downloading some of the many free eBooks, seeing as all the in-app purchases (i.e. the books) are free!

Now would be the time for you to cosy down whilst holding a book, and your warm cup of tea sitting besides you. (Psst... plus one if you love reading).

Jzk for reading, hope you're having a great day and Asaalam!

Organisation.

Asaalam.
After having spent endless hours working on organising my blogs, I nearly gave up the post I was hoping to write, however, here I am hours after sitting with my laptop, active, right in front of me (I did nearly give up after re-reading some of my previous posts). Recently, I have realised the importance of organising your time in such a way that you have the freedom to do anything at any time, but you still fit in the obligatory tasks of the day.

The best way for me to explain the reason why is through this quote:
"Islam should not evolve around our lives- our lives should evolve around Islam"

TIP No.1
Allahamdullilah, we live in a society in which we can use the technology which surrounds us to our advantage by allowing it to increase our Iman. It was only recently, in the midst of the excitement of a new app store- that I downloaded "Qamar Deen.", an app through which you can keep count of your daily Namaaz, Quran, Sadaqah and Fasts. This app is simply amazing, especially due to the fact that I will give me the kick I need If I haven't been doing particular well by visualising how well I have been using my time through charts, graphs etc.
Just as a quick disclaimer, using this app for boasting wouldn't exactly be the best way to use up your time, would it?

TIP NO.2
Sticking up a Salah time-table, or simply saving one onto your smart phone can be much more effective than having to log on to your PC and using up ten minutes trying to find out when the prayer begins.

TIP NO.3
I find that you can never do well in a specific activity unless you are motivated. Something I find always helps me (Allahamdullilah) is reminding myself of it, before hand.
For example, if I am surrounded by activities I wish to do, however, I also want to read some Quran, a couple of minutes before, in whatever it is I may be doing, I will keep that in the back of my mind for a while, and Insha-Allah hope not to change it.

We shouldn't really have to 'fit' Islam into our lives, and in no way do I wish to convey that message, rather, now-a-days, most of the 24 hours which we are given is based around work, or school, or university etc. and putting aside these activities not only have a large impact on our day, but also defy how we are meant to be living.
However, through any activity we can benefit ourselves, simply by smiling we have followed a Sunnah. Rather than attempting to implement Islam into our daily lives, our life should be Islam, as Islam is a way of life.

Jzk for reading, hope you're having a great day and Asaalam

About Me And This Blog.

Asaalam-U-Alaikum!

In a Nutshell, I'm a born Muslimah (Allahamdmullilah), and I love coffee chocolates, surfing the Internet, playing around on my phone, and tea.

All randomness aside, I strive to please Allah (SWT), and like other Muslims, my ultimate goal is Jannah.

My blog is a Mish-Mash of musings, reviews, poems, tips and daily experiences (that Insha-Allah you can relate to).

Personally, I feel that once one understand the true purpose of life, everything surrounding them suddenly becomes much more brighter, and significantly more enjoyable.

Keep the Ummah in your dua's!
Asaalam.

The Changes.

Asaalam All,
After having come to the conclusion that the amount of blogs must be decreased, I decided to change things up slightly in order to enable myself to write my blogs much more easily, and not have to strain through the genre and themes of a post in order to decide which category it would fit into. Therefore, I have deleted several plain awkward posts and fit most of my blogs into this one.
I have also decided to change certain features of this blog to match my current liking.

MY BLOGS:
The Life Of a Curious Muslimah: IntruginglyInteresting.BlogSpot.com (THIS BLOG)
Daddy And Daughter-The Family Foodies- TummyTeasers.BlogSpot.com
Let's do it the righteous way: smileandpleaseAllah.blogspot.com

Now, click any of the above, and enjoy your experience as you sail through the intriguing tides within the internet, reading whatever you wish.

Le Bad Hijab Day (Cue Tense Melodramatic Theme Tune)

Asaalam everyone,
Often, I create an image in my mind of how I wish something that I intend to do will turn out.
Yeah, let's face the truth. It doesn't always match that image.
Doesn't it?
Sorry pal, but it doesn't.
Cue disappointed face.

Why am I forever choosing images of cute little kids and lolcats?

Back onto topic...
You had a bad hijab day?
Yes, I had a bad hijab day... :(

On the day I became an official hijabi I faced several obstacles, originally putting my mind off the idea of keeping the hijab on, however, I had promised myself I would stick to it.
Why did I get so stressed over it though? Not only is it frustrating and can have an affect on your day if not dealt with and handled immediately, but a lot of us naturally worry about out physical appearance, and even though hijab is a freedom and helps us to realise there is more to us than how we look, it often n sometimes be something differing from what society deems 'beauty' and hover more along the lines of simply physical presentation.

Obviously, it is important to be dealt with somewhere appropriate, however, it mustn't have that big an impact on our day, as I've found, some-how, with hijab on, life has just become much more enjoyable to me...

Perhaps that story is for another day.

Hope you're having a great da, JZK for reading and Asaalam!

Her Modesty #WorldHijabDay

Asaalam everyone,

A beautiful woman walks around covered head to toe,
nothing on her face but her sweet smile,
her gaze lowered.
Simplicity is her dress code and comfort is her outcome.
She's fearless and courageous,
and refuses to be oppressed.

Perhaps if her headscarf was a fashion,
she wouldn't be labelled as a terrorist,
or told she is controlled by some wicked man.
When truly, the real oppressors are right under our noses,
demanding us to dress one way, act one way,
"and the modest one's abused,
controlled,
a terrorist."

You think womanhood is defined,
by what you wear and how you wear it,
by the size of your high-heels and your lipstick shade,
when she understands that it means much more than that,
her courage, her conduct, her generosity and deeds,
the knowledge in her mind,
does that not matter more than how you look?
Does that even matter to you at all?
She's a daughter, a mother, an aunt,
a sister, a cousin, a wife,
yet she needs not please anyone but her creator,
Her modesty is her freedom and liberation,
her realisation of the fact that she is not a mere object.

She is the definition of woman-hood.

Three Unexpected Side-Effects Of Wearing Hijab (My Story)

Asaalam everyone,
I don't know if it was just me who had that 'stage' before wearing the hijab, when I would wonder around the internet looking at hijab related things, until I came to wearing it. Mind you, I still do look at hijab related things on the internet... a lot of the time (*cough-cough*Amenakin*cough-cough* Nabilabee)
It was at that point I came across the blogger who inspired me... A Hotchpotch Hijabi In Italy:
http://saritaagerman.blogspot.co.uk/
At that point, blogging was something that I would have loved to do, yet I had not taken serious action to fulfil my interest.

My reaction to when she plus one'd one of my posts:

Except, I'm not a pony- or am I?
(Cue mysterious horror music)

One of her blog posts is written around the 'side-effects' of wearing the hijab, specifically from her own experience. Therefore, I pondered a little over my own 'side-effects'.
I came to a conclusion which I present to you, fellow stranger...

Side effect number one-
Friendship changes

I think loneliness was previously quite an awkward concept to me, however, after my decision to cover, it suddenly became such that I didn't care what anyone's opinion was, even on me strolling around alone, I was given some more space, and even able to create the right relationships with those around me, due to the fact that I didn't care what anyone thought about what I did now.

Side-effect number two-
Le beginning awkwardness.

I would have thought that all the reactions would end within a day and I would feel normal with my hijab on, however, there were so many people, some of which I do not even know (weird right), who reacted in some way or another. However, I have to admit, I love the support I got from other hijabi sisters, as due to the fact they have been through a similar experience, they were able to deal with certain situations better than I would have.

Side Effect Number Three-
Before and after- Come on, my Hijab doesn't change me completely!

I think, although certain aspects of my life-style changed, many may have thought I have changed completely as a person, which is obviously not true.

Anyways, go check out a Hotch-Potch Hijabi In Italy!
Here's her side-effects:

Jzk for reading, hope you're having a lovely day and Asaalam!

Why She Covers

Asaalam everyone!
I had a creative idea pop into my mind, and Insha-Allah I will now put it into use. I'll place a link tod the article my post is based around, right about... here-(pssst... click the previous word, here)!

             WHY SHE WEARS HIJAB.
Urgh- work was so hard today! Guess what happen?

What?

It's everyone there! They all act as if I'm oppressed or something, constantly talking to each-other about the "Weird piece of fabric I wear on my head!" I think It's the work place.. I'm thinking of resigning, or talking to the boss...

It seems hard-but are you sure? Resign?
It's kinda your fault anyway....

True, resigning might be a little over the top, but what do you mean by my fault?

You chose this job... you chose to work with those people...
You chose to wear hijab.

Yes I chose this job but you can't ask, are the colleagues going to talk about my hijab, and excuse me? Yes, I chose to wear my hijab and I'm happy I did... you can't blame my hijab.. It's mandatory!

Where does it say?

In the Quran... Surah Nur and in other parts of the Quran to.

Well, yeah, but you can always wear it after wards... when you've finished work...
or when you're older.

I might die tomorrow, or even today, right now!
Death doesn't discriminate between the old or the young!

But you look so beautiful without your hijab, your hair is gorgeous...

What about how beautiful hijab is... I've heard lots of people call hijab beautiful, I always get compliments on my hijab style, and besides... it holds it's own beauty...

It can't if it's hiding your beauty...

Well it does! The beauty of modesty!

Doesn't it take effort covering in these hot weathers?

Doesn't it take effort getting the look that's in, putting on makeup every day, having a "perfect" weight?
Besides hell-fire is hotter.

Just because you don't wear Hijab doesn't mean you're going to hell.

Yes, but if you do it with the right intention aren't you a step closer to heaven Insha-Allah?

Yeah, but you can do other things...

I'm not saying you can't... this is one of those things...

Huh? I don't get you... I don't get anything you've said...
I've only tried to give you some good advice and information.

Advice? Telling me to stop doing a good deed?
I said that hijab doesn't annoy me, in fact, it's quite comfortable, and Hijab is mandatory but it's a personal decision a woman makes, if she doesn't wear it it doesn't mean she'll go to hell but hijab is a good deed... and modesty has a beauty of it's own! Besides, it doesn't hide my beauty or make it fade away, it covers it! I don't acre if you have a problem with my hijab... I'm wearing it for Allah Subhanataala and not you!

I never realised how amazing hijab is...
You carry on wearing it!
I'll support you every step of the way!

As she finished this conversation with herself she realised how little doubts are and how they can be rid with a simple reading of Taawuz. She realised how much beauty her hijab really held, and she got over her doubts. The next morning, nothing stopped her from picking up her hijab to wrap it around her head and whatever anyone else said or did never stopped her from wearing the hijab.

I'm going to leave that there...
I hope you enjoyed this blog...
JZK for reading,
have a nice day
and Asaalam!

The Importance Of Love

Asaalam all,
Again, I hand over to you a post full of the many musings that crossed my mind whilst pondering, and for your satisfaction, I hand it to you in a plate:

Whilst considering posting a haul around the certain purchases made today whilst shopping, a memory came to my mind, of an event that occurred during the trip. Whilst walking, we bumped into a poor, homeless person, desperately asking for money. At the time, all that crossed my mind was the visual before me, a human being, begging for money.

However, it later crossed my mind that in the midst of our busy lives, we often ignore those who yearn for our help, in order to satisfy what we believe is just to call 'crucial'.

Further-more, we often forget the importance of making Dua for this person, and some-how, we think the small amount of change which we hand to them is, alone, significant to ease their tribulation.

Finally, it is truly saddening that we are unable to see through a unique perspective, because if we truly were to be loving towards all of mankind, the impact would be remarkable.

Missing Things And Their Musings. (Alliteration fail :( )

Asaalam!
I'm guessing I'm not the only one out there who has to look after 99.9 percent of their stuff so it is immaculate...
Anyways, losing one object and me freaking out was the cause of a few musings which I wish to write down for all of YOU .

So read on for a ramble on about my opinion on 'stuff', 'things' or 'objects'.

Firstly, I don't think a connection with materialistic objects can ever bring about good, because once we start evolving our life around one thing- what space have we left for our life to evolve around Islam? Perhaps t's easy to forget that all that surrounds us help to does not belong to us, and it is not because of us that we were able to buy such luxurious things. In a way, riches can encourage developing an ego and to big of a pride, and egos will never come of use to you.

I think one reason (in my opinion) that egos would never do any good to you is because if some-one was to give you a piece of advice for your Deen etc. then you might not take it in as well as you would without that unnecessary ego. Secondly, remember Allah- who is always above you, nothing is above him, he is the best.

Secondly, this world is mega short compared to the next world. I think the best quote I heard to describe it is when this dunya was described as a drop in the ocean. The ocean being the Akhira I believe.

Happiness within itself is a test, and how you deal with that happiness is really important, whether you are thank Allah for the happiness which he has blessed you with (Alhamdulillah) for it or not is really important.

Dealing with happiness the wrong way could probably affect the true peace within your heart replacing it with what you believe is a satisfaction, or perhaps you know it is not, but your love for materialistic objects will grow.

I thought about all this by losing one tiny thing Alhamdulillah.

Anyways, JZK for reading, Hope you're having a great day and Asaalam!

Dawah through one's personality- orignally posted on Let's do it the Righteous way.

Asaalam all,
Dawah, or spreading Islam, cannot simply be done by handing a non-Muslim a leaflet on certain aspects of Islam, especially if they have not seen you following Islam. If you walked into a room, throwing abuses at anyone who crosses you path, walking so you intrude the path of others, on purpose, wearing dirty clothes and the stench (which you had regained in the many years you had not bathed) causing flies to follow and continuously fly around your head, then walked up to a non-Muslim who had never heard the word Islam before, or ever even talked to a Muslim and said "I am a Muslim"- what would you make.
If I was there I would just be like:

JZK for reading,  hope you're having a great day and Asaalam.
(Don't forget to keep smiling- it's sunnah)!

LIFE.

Asaalam everyone,
Right now you may possibly be sitting with a cup of tea in front of the telly, your hard day at school behind you, or at work tapping away on your PC, hoping that time will simply fly by. WELL STOP! Whatever it is you're doing- from cooking to cleaning and writing to reading (probably this blog), ensure you do so without an inkling of boredom, because you have to get up- and LIVE!

Now don't start commenting with the whole YOLO thing, because that's plain annoying. :(

Despite the fact that ,as Muslims, we do believe in two lives (the second being permanent) it doesn't give you an excuse to go huddle yourself up and hide in a corner all your life, because, not only could you be using your time much more wisely doing Ibadah, reading Quran, gaining knowledge, giving Dawah etc. but what happiness would one gain from constant isolation, because we believe that we won't be here forever? However, the amount of wealth you own, how high your status is or what you wear when you leave the house doesn't either.

True  peace at heart is actually knowing that materialistic objects hold no worth. In the eyes of Allah (SWT) I'm pretty sure that the change you put in that small charity box next to you, that would go on to help a child without parents, is MUCH better than spending It on your second serving of fish and chips.

Fish and Chips aside, the amount of wealth you have will come of no use to you when you have passed away, your favourite dress will probably outgrow you at least once, the spots you eagerly wish to rid of may be followed on by wrinkles!

The true way to achieve peace and happiness is to divert your attention from materialistic objects and positions and concentrate on  pleasing Allah SWT.

At the most random of moments, I will sit still as if frozen within the depths of time and admire this perfect picture of me and those around me laughing as a sign of enjoyment.

I attended a talk the other day, and for a small section of the talk the sister mentioned homes and families now-a-days. Subhanallah, within our own relatives we get jealous, we start thinking "Oh, she's prettier than me" "He's got much more than me", "They're smarter than me."

It's not supposed to be that way, we need to start from the home Insha-Allah.

So, overall, true peace, in my opinion, would mean remembering that this is not our permanent life, and aiming for Jannah, but at the same time not entrapping yourself in such a way that you do not talk to anyone, smile at anyone, or taking in what I've said and going outside to YOLO yourself away- tut, tut, tut! :(
Rather, to be thankful to Allah SWT and to make your highest goal Jannah.
So don't obsess over how you look to others, how much wealth you have- but don't waste your time by entrapping yourself.
Prove your love for Allah SWT

I'm setting a little task for you, go thank Allah SWT, say Allhamdullilah for something- find a way to thank our creator for all which he has given us- IA keep me in your Duas as well please.

JZK for reading, hope you're having a great day and Asaalam!
